About the C9 bulb
A C9 bulb is about 1⅛ in. across and threads into an E17 intermediate base socket. It's the standard bulb for rooflines, commercial buildings and any display viewed from the street. LED C9 retrofit bulbs draw a fraction of the power of incandescent C9s, so far more sockets can run on one circuit.
Standard and Minleon lines
Both lines are sold in 25-packs and 500-bulb cases on the C9 bulb collection, with the color options shown on each listing. Keep one line and one color temperature per run so every bulb on an edge matches from the street.
Color temperature
- Sun warm white: about 2600–2800K, the most amber, closest to incandescent.
- Warm white: about 2800–3200K, the traditional soft white.
- Pure white: about 4000–4200K, neutral.
- Cool white: 5900K and up, with a blue tint.
Bulbs and spacing
Socket spacing sets the bulb count. A run needs one bulb per socket, so 12 in. spacing takes one bulb per foot, 15 in. takes 0.8 per foot, and 24 in. takes half a bulb per foot. That's why the case plan below starts from spacing rather than from footage alone.
The wire the bulbs go on
C9 socket wire comes on 1,000 ft. spools at 12 in. and 24 in. spacing, and as an SPT-2 spool in 12 in. and 15 in. spacing. Replacement sockets in 10-packs repair a damaged socket in place. 8 in. light stakes hold C9 bulbs on socket wire along walkways and beds, in 25-packs and 250-stake cases.
Bulb styles
C9 LED bulbs come in faceted, smooth and opaque styles, shown in each listing's options where available. Faceted lenses break the light into points, smooth lenses look like traditional glass C9s, and opaque lenses glow evenly and suit solid-color displays. Keep one style per run, since a smooth bulb in a faceted line stands out.
Mounting the run
Each socket takes one clip: O-clips or all-in-one clips on gutters and shingles, ridge clips on peaks, magnet clips on steel, and tile and extended fascia clips on tile roofs. Order clips to the socket count of the spool plus a few percent spare.
Re-lamp stock
Installers re-lamping returning displays usually keep 25-packs of the color temperatures they install most, and open a 500-bulb case only for new runs. Unopened cases can be returned within 30 days of delivery if a job comes in under the estimate; product must be unused and in original, intact packaging.

Match the spool to the spacing
Socket spacing is fixed by the wire, not the bulbs. 12 in. bulk spools carry 1,000 sockets per 1,000 ft., two full cases. 24 in. bulk spools carry 500 sockets, exactly one case. The SPT-2 spool comes in 12 in. or 15 in. spacing; at 15 in. a 1,000 ft. spool carries 800 sockets, one case plus 12 packs.
Allow for spares
Plan 1–2% extra for bulbs dropped on install day and for the first re-lamps of the season. On a 5,000 ft. job at 12 in. spacing that's 50 to 100 bulbs, two to four 25-packs. When an order already rounds up to an extra case, the leftover bulbs from that case cover the spares.
Standard or Minleon
Both lines thread into the same E17 sockets. Standard C9 LED bulbs are $0.638 each by the case; Minleon C9 bulbs are $0.798 each by the case. Plan cases per line and per color temperature: a job with warm white rooflines and a multi-color tree line is two separate case plans, not one total.
Splitting cases across jobs
For a season of installs, total the bulb count by spacing, line and color across every job, then order cases against those totals. A 500-bulb case doesn't have to stay with one property: a case opened for a 300-bulb job sends its other 200 bulbs to the next one at the same color temperature. Unopened cases can be returned within 30 days of delivery if the season comes in under plan, as long as they're unused and in original, intact packaging.
